As many of you asked, for the first time after more than 1000 cakes I finally weighed one of my cakes!

This cake weighed 15 kg!!!!!!!! and when doing my math it turned out I am cheaper! than your normal industrial cake:)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Perhaps I should start valuing my cakes based on their weight.

Oh well, at least I love what I do, so I can still find pleasure in it:) and I am sure it put a smile on the little birthday girl's face so it is all worth it in the end.

The requirements here were lego and a fire truck on top of the cake.

I made the whole cake as a huge Lego piece and added some small ones on the board as well to represent the Lego theme. Just added the firetruck on top of it, and 4 hours later I was all ready to deliver it:)

On a different occasion I also made some Lego cupcakes that I am going to tie in here:)

I was sent a picture and asked to reproduce them myself.

I was just so tired of same old same old. I just did not wanna model again Winnie and his friends and place them on a round cake. I just had to do something different.

Although the key to perfection, repetition is also a key step toward boredom:) So I try not to repeat myself that much. Thus, perfection is still way ahead of me:))

This is the cake I made for Ava's Christening. The colors were supposed to be pink and yellow. I went with pastel colors for this cake.

I added a few sleeping babies on top of the mushrooms to make it even cuter:)

The name was all glittery, fit for a fairy tale.

I used to make it sooo often a long time ago:) I think it has been a year since I have done one of this.

This time the request was that the zipper would be closed and no scarves around the puppy.

In order to do that, I placed the dog at the side of the cake and not in the middle and so i was able to close the zipper and make it noticeable as well.

instead I am happy to share with all of you some pieces of advice regarding cake decorating written by Carolyn from Blog Content Guild, a blog that highlights other creative and interesting blogs arround the world.

I was contacted by Carolyn and asked if I was interested in a guest blog column and aftter reading her article on cake decorating 101:) I decided it was a good a idea to share it with my readers.

I want to mention that I stand by every piece of advice given by her, I think this is how one should really begin this adventure, this is how I did it at least.

So for all you beginners out there and not only please take the time to read it. It is very helpful!!

Meal Plan Tips: Cake Decorating 101

After seeing all of Giovanna’s cakes, you may be wondering, “How can I start cake decorating?” Here are some tips to help you get a handle on this meal plan and become a cake decorating pro.

Watch the Professionals

Find a great cake decorating or cooking show and watch closely. This will help you learn insider tricks while also giving you a visual example of how to decorate. You can learn how to make a reverse shell border on a cake, just by watching someone else do it. You will notice that many cake decorators hold their bags at a precise angle while decorating (usually 45 degrees), or that some chefs prefer certain decorating tips over others.

Get Professional Supplies

Sure, you can decorate a cake with everyday household items, but nothing gives you precision like professional tools. Stock up on basic tools like pastry bags, decorating tips, couplers, spatulas (one small and one large), and gel food coloring (which will not change the consistency of your icing like liquid coloring).

Start Small

Instead of tackling a whole cake, start with something small, like cupcakes first! Decorating a whole cake can be daunting, so it could help you out to start with something a little more manageable. Many bakers also practice on plates before jumping on the real thing. If you don’t like what you see on the plate, just scoop up the icing for reuse and try again.

Practice Makes Perfect

None of us are going to be spectacular cake decorators on the first try. Give yourself time to practice and keep at it! Always try new techniques and, eventually, you will create the perfect cake.

The requirements for this cake were to be an A6 Audi and to incorporate somehow the Ecco name as well. As you can see, I went with a very outgoing girl that sticks her feet out the window and shows us that her beautiful legs are wearing Ecco. After doing the legs, I thought to myself, why not give her an Ecco bag as well:)

I also made the registration plates Ecco:))

Sorry about the quality of the photos. Black is very difficult to photograph. It looked so much better in reality.

:))) Nope, but I was asked to make a skiing themed cake and add a scooter at the base of the cake.

How did I do??

After covering the two tiers of cake in white sugar paste I melted the remaining and added it to the cake as well. I just let it slide down the sides of the cake and I love how it came out.

I was suggested to make a cupcake on the top of the cake and I just couldn't get passed that idea. It stuck with me I just had to use it:) Since I was going to put a giant cupcake on the cake I thought of doing a contrast in texture between the tiers. So I used the frosting like top part of the cupcake for other two tiers in combination with fine smooth shiny ones.

I used autumn colors and added some leaves on the sides.

I love how it looks.

Made for a young girl that loves butterflies, purple and pink.

I know:) I took a chance on doing this considering the above requests:), but this is how I pictured it in my mind and I have to say I think it came out great.

The birthday girl couldn't believe that this was her cake. She loved it!!!!!! So, sometimes it's good to take risks.

I just felt otherwise, with those colors and the butterflies it would look like a little girl's cake.

for the first time I used edible glitter. Loove it!

My first huge sculpted cake!!!!!!!!! This was my biggest challenge in cars due to its size.

This cake was ~ 85 cm long x 36 wide!!!!!

Obviously, could not fit in the fridge at this size so I was a bit worried it would melt on me, but luckily the temperatures were very low that day so I turned off the heat in my home and opened the windows!!!!!!:)))

Another big challenge overcome!!!!!yeeeeyyy!!!!!

Ariel and Tinkerbell cake

I had to incorporate both Ariel and Tinkerbell on this cake so I thought a castle on the beach would be the way to go. This way I would have both the sea and the shore to work with. The castle is inspired by prince Eric's castle from the Little Mermaid 2. This way I could add Tinkerbell:)

And the under the sea theme, which I love, works perfectly with Ariel.

She loves the movie and she loves the angry birds game.

A Nemo and hello kitty for Alesia

She wanted both Nemo and hello Kitty on her cake , so I chose to decorate it half wise. Never did a combined cake before, but I like how it turned out.

A Rapunzel, Tangled cake for a young little lady

inspired by the fabulous and amazing work of the talented Galia Hristova Gugi.

I modeled Rapunzel and also did her tower in the back. the tower took for ever to finish:)

I wish I had more time to add more details on the cake, but one set of hands can only do so much.

I cannot believe I pulled it off!!!!

flowers are definitely not my thing. These callas were made without a cutter, I just free hand cut them out of the rolled flower paste with a knife:)

Some of the flowers were made by a friend of mine, who never did a flower in her life:) I was running so late this Saturday, with all the other cakes I had to do that I had to ask for help in order to finish it.

Larger ones made by myself and the smaller callas by my dear friend. Thank you S!

I love how it looks. Quite proud of myself here:)

3D Minnie Mouse cake

Oh yes, this time it is so very kid friendly:)))

Our Minnie was 60 cm tall.

The body was 3 tiers of cake stacked one on top of the other and the head was RKT.

My black wasn't that black this time, so I chose to steam it and give it some shine.

wish I had more time and gave her better looking shoes, but time was of the essence, as usual, as I had three more cakes to finish today, and I could only spare so much time for it.

Never the less pretty proud of my Minnie:)

I was asked to make a bunny girl dressed with a dress similar to the one the one year old birthday girl was supposed to wear on the day of her birthday. This was a last minute order, from one day to the next so the ears could not stand up as there was no time for them to dry.

I was pretty happy with the result, until my husband said it looked like a mouse:)

Dakar tournament scenery, a camel, an oasis, a Can am off road ATV with the birthday boy on top:), a sign indicating his 40th birthday, and 40 candles on top. That was the idea behind this cake.

Made to serve 90 guests! The inside was lemon cheese cake.

For a passionate about music young man on his 18th birthday celebration.

He plays the guitar and has it's own band.

The guitar is a replica of his own (his mum sent me a picture of it). It was made out of polyester and covered in fondant.

The cake was made to feed 60 people.

Made for a fishing lover.Pictures taken at the warehouse of the company I delivered it to.

It was a huge cake, made to feed 150 people.

Sorry I have not got better pictures. I was running late with this cake and I had no time to take proper pictures, nor did I had the time to put the finishing touches I had thought of. If only I had 4 more hours:))))
